THE ME ME ME'S
From Portland, Oregon. The Me Me Me's is the solo project and new band from Don Rife (The Lead Singer / Drummer for the Legendary West Coast band Smoochknob). Rife recently lost his mother to cancer. He wrote the song "Goodbye Mom" (Below) right after her passing. Rife explained to Revolver Magazine "It was one the hardest thing I've ever had to do. My pain, dis-belief, sadness. I wanted to get it all down. I don't want that pain to ever be forgotten or lessened. I am proud of the song. It does what I intended. I can listen to it, and go back to that day she died, the exact moment, to the hour right after, to her funeral and beyond. The song is an official record of those moments and emotions, I can go back anytime I need to and be with her again. She died so unexpectedly. The last time I spoke to her, a few days before, if I had known, it would be the last time. My last moment with her. Ya, I would have stayed on the phone as long as possible. Instead, after exactly 3:19, I said I loved her and I had to go do whatever it was. To do what? I can't even remember now. Really the song should be called Three minutes, Nineteen seconds. I live each day now, scarred for the better, knowing, we are not guaranteed anything, except the moment we are in now. I think, knowing that has helped me be a better Father to my boys and a better husband to my wife. To take better care each moment, I get with them. No matter how small. It could be the last".
Even before his Mother passed, Rife's song writing had shifted a bit darker and towards self reflection. Rife explained, "My songs lately, seem to be filled with death and gloom. As I grow older, I seem to be maturing in my influences and what I want to do in my life. If you listen to When We Disappear (Below) for example, I wrote the song the day after a friend died, He had two younger kids. I started thinking about my own young boys, I mean Baby Hannibal is only 4. I realized they are not guaranteed me being around for them forever. It could all be taken away in a moment. The song and video is sad, as Death takes life away. But, in the end, I'm trying to show that there is a beauty in Death and for my kids to know, everything is going to be alright. That none of us get to stay forever. Embrace it when It comes.
Look for The Me Me Me's new album "I Like Turtles" in Fall of 2022.

SMOOCHKNOB
Smoochknob has had a great run through out the years. From the early 2000's to present day, with regional and national college and mainstream radio airplay, they've enjoyed a long successful career. The SK live shows are filled to the gills with fans who sing along to every song. An almost cult like underground following. With Songs like Weirdo (2001 & 2013), Crank-O-American (2004), Erica 2008, Kung-Fu (2010), Goodbye (2012), Meet Me Half The Way (2015), She's so Ghetto (2016) and more, They've established themselves as a band who's music and epic live show memories will live on past their days. A career spanning 25 years and 8 albums released to date, is an impressive feat by any standard. Although SK is not touring as regularly as they used to. Expect new releases and shows in the not to distant future. Donnie, Javier, Pauly and Nik will, as the Smoochknob song Cream says "keep on rocking until we're dead"
